Blood Drive February 15th

Most of the time people (including me) are grossed out or become queasy at the sight or even the thought of having blood drawn. Although this is totally normal, many people are able to overcome this by facing their fears and doing it. A great opportunity to do this would be to donate blood at the KAY Blood Drive on Wednesday February 15th. This would give you a chance to face your fear and help someone in need.
In order to donate, there are a few requirements that you have to meet. The first is to be at least 16 years old. This is to ensure that you stay healthy after making the donation. The next is to weigh at least 110 pounds. Again this is to ensure your safety. The final requirement is that you have to have healthy iron levels. This is so that your body is able to make new red blood cells in order to replace the ones donated.
If you are feeling nervous about donating, that’s fine, and there are many steps you can take to make things a little bit easier. First, make sure you have a good night’s sleep. Also, make sure you have drank plenty of water before donating. Make sure you are plenty warm as this will make the veins easier to find. Afterward, make sure to eat plenty of protein as this will help your body recover.
I hope this helps you!
