MHS Music Department’s Trip to Chicago

MHS Music department took a 5 day trip to Chicago right after returning from Spring Break. This trip was a once in a life time opportunity for many who attended.  They enjoyed many amazing experiences around the city. The urban life was a change for most attendees.

MHS band, orchestra and choir participated in the trip with amazing sponsors and teachers. They visited a whole bunch of tourist destinations including the Willis Tower, the Navy Pier, China Town, a whole bunch of museums, Nederlander Theatre where they watched Moulin Rouge, and Medieval Times. On Wednesday March 23, the students met at around 1:30 am to load and depart for Chicago. The trip lasted through March 24-26 and on March 27 around 7am the students departed for McPherson and arrived at around 10pm. They stayed at two hotels in Chicago, Illinois. Three of the days were spent in Hotel Julian located in the city. One night of the trip was spent at Four Points Sheraton in Schaumburg, IL right outside of Chicago. The whole point of this trip was for a contest which was cancelled because of Covid. Instead Band and Orchestra had a clinic and Choir went to Kenwood Academy High School for an amazing experience.

Altogether I think that this experience was unbelievable, and I think that most participants would agree with me.
