Omicron Moves Into States

Omicron has came from Africa into several countries including the United States.

A new COVID-19 variant has been discovered in Africa and has now been found in the United States. Omicron samples were found earlier this November. So far the states that have had positive cases include New York, Minnesota, California, and Colorado. All of the positive cases did have recent history of traveling and a few of them were vaccinated.

The United States and Africa aren’t the only unlucky countries. The U.K., Netherlands, Canada, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Australia, Belgium, Germany, and Portugal all have positive cases as well.

It’s predicted that this variant will spread very fast and will most likely spread faster than another COVID-19 variant, delta. While it is expected to spread rapidly, officials recommended continuing with your standard COVID precautions. This would include social distancing, properly wearing a mask, sanitizing regularly, and getting vaccinated.

With new variants of COVID-19 popping up left and right, will this stop us from going back to our “normal lives” before COVID? Masks and social distancing may become our new normal. Even with some mask mandates still being in place there are people who still refuse to believe this is our lives and could be for the rest of our lives.
