Texas Abortion Law

A new law has gone into effect in Texas banning abortion after six weeks. This law also allows citizens to sue abortion providers and anyone who helps a women obtain an abortion. The law specifically bans abortion after six weeks because this is usually when cardiac activity is detectable. Many activists are eager to begin replicating this model in other states. “It is still a bit untested. We’re still working on what these lawsuits are going to look like if the industry decides to break the law,” https://www.nytimes.com/2021/09/01/us/supreme-court-texas-abortion.html says Seago who works with the organization in Texas called Right to Life. Although there has been much support there has also been push back. Activists fighting for women’s right to choose have been pushing back against the new law. Supreme court members voted 5 to 4 in favor of not blocking the abortion law only one day after it was passed.
