Prom Committee

That’s right, Prom is just around the corner. Girls are getting their dresses, boys are getting their tuxes, and everyone is getting ready to party like it’s 1999. (That’s a little Prince reference for ya if you didn’t know.) But… How will we have Prom, if we have no money for decorations? Or catered delights? Or a DJ!?

That’s why the Prom Committee had a meeting with the Junior Class on Friday, February 1st to discuss this issue. Taylor Stucky, a teacher at McPherson High School, subbed in for Mrs. Weineger to talk about a fundraiser.

She asked a group of students, any Junior willing to volunteer, if they’d like to help out. There are two jobs… a.) Sell 600 tickets for a McPherson American Legion ‘Family Night’, and b.) Help out at the fundraiser!

Now, 600 tickets may seem expensive, but each ticket is only 5 dollars, which is a good price for what you’re getting with it. Hamburger, fries, soft drink, and a delicious dessert. All that for only a five dollar ticket, most people would probably shout: ‘Yes, please, sign me up!’

Each student who volunteered to sell tickets got an envelope with 10 tickets, and one student even requested 20 more tickets to sell!

The fundraiser itself is on Thursday, February 21st, 2019, from 5 pm to 6:30. The rest of the students were asked to email Mrs. Stucky to sign up to help serve the burgers, fries, drinks, and desserts on the night of. Overall, it sounds like a pretty good deal.

Good food, great friends, awesome servers, and family time. What’s not to enjoy? So go ahead, ask around, see if you know anyone who is carrying ten, 5 dollar tickets, and go ahead and buy some! It’ll be worth it!
