Acting, to everything being done behind the scenes, there is a lot of work that goes into the production of a play or musical. The McPherson High School thespian troupe gives quality entertainment to students and citizens of McPherson. A lot of people enjoy their performances and they now have two upcoming events in the months of November and December.

In the month of November a Seussical will be taking place at the McPherson High School on the 27th and 28th. This is a musical that is based on the children’s stories of Dr. Seuss, with many of the scenes incorporating “Horton Hears a Who.” Anyone who may be interested in this can sign up for time and information on the choir classroom door. They will be doing tryouts this week and the rolls will be posted this Friday. Rapunzel, a muppet show will also be performed on December 12th and 13th. The theatre ll class will be visiting various grade schools in the town of McPherson and putting on a short performances on the tail of Rapunzel.

Alanna Golden, who manages tech rolls for the theatre, said, : “I wanted to do theatre because I have a strong interest in acting. When I joined the class last year I thought it would be a very good experience and because of how much I enjoyed it, I decided to take it this year also. Right now I currently manage tech rolls but I am wanting to advance into doing more.” Is this a class you would consider taking?

Theatre takes a lot of commitment and hard work but in the end it is worth it. You make new friends, learn new skills, and develop more self confidence. It is always hard to try something new, but maybe this could be something that you would enjoy very much and want to continue doing.
