On Saturday, March 24th many marches and protests were performed all over the United States against the gun laws that we have today, and changes that protesters want to be made.  With more than 800 protests planned in each American state, students leading the rallies would perform a speech declaring “Never again!” and that they are “Done hiding!” from gun violence.

The “March for our Lives” protest in New York was in response to the shooting in Florida at the Stoneman Douglas High School. With nearly 200,000 people participating, the march was based on pushing our legislatures to create better gun legislation.  Other proposals include: raising the minimum age for purchasing a gun to 21 years, prohibiting people with domestic violence history from purchasing a gun, banning assault weapons from civilian hands, and more.  This event was put together by a group of survivors from the Stoneman Douglas shooting however, the “march for our lives” includes many other students across the country.  Tia Herrman, a high school senior in Lawrence Kansas attended the march.  She stated: “The march was incredibly powerful and the amount of youth influence in organizing it shows how hopeful prospects are for the country.”
