The McPherson High School Theatre II class is putting on a play using people and muppets together on December 14th to 15th at the four McPherson elementary schools. This is a traveling play that they do every year. Also staying with tradition, Olaf will be making a special appearance once again.

The Theatre II students are putting on an original play, Rumpelstiltskin. This show will include a mix of students as actors and two muppets, Rumpelstiltskin and Olaf. Mr. McGlynn is the theatre/drama teacher in charge of this show. He chose the muppets himself and a couple of the students are controlling them as the “actors.

Many people already know the traditional storyline of this tale but be prepared for surprises from the students many revisions. Rumpelstiltskin is about a very poor and boastful miller who has a beautiful daughter. The miller lied to the King about his daughter, claiming that she could turn straw into gold. After being challenged to these impossible tasks, the daughter makes a deal with Rumpelstiltskin for him to do these tasks for her. In return for helping her, she promised Rumpelstiltskin her first born child. When she refuses to go through with her promise, more deals get made causing even more chaos. This tale is a fun one that kids are sure to enjoy!
