MHS Girls Varsity Places 1st at Home

Gorgeous weather set the scene for this great day of tennis on August 31st.  After placing second in the previous meet in Hesston, the McPherson girls varsity tennis team played home for their second meet of the year and came away with first place as a team, outscoring six other teams. Mac took fifty points with Valley Center trailing behind with forty-one.

In singles, Maisie Edmondson, senior, went 3-1 on the day with a tough loss in the finals from Newton’s Rai Normal who is a foriegn exchange student from Thailand.  Daphne Carrillo finished 2-2 taking seventh place, while freshman Jacie Myers finished in fifteenth place with this being her first varsity meet.

Mac’s doubles teams did exceptionally well taking home second, third and fourth places. Taylor Bruce, sophomore, and CeAnna Allen, freshman, went 2-1 taking second place, while Rachel Carlson and Ashley Achilles finished in third. Seniors, Cheyann Williams and Madison Schmidt finished 2-2 on the day with a fourth place finish.

Although no individuals took home a first, Coach Tyler Brown quoted to the McPherson Sentinel “We had another awesome day of tennis, not just weather wise but, a great day of play as well.”
