The McPherson High School cheerleaders have been working hard to cheer on fellow athletes and spread spirit around the school. They attend events for support such as band concerts, choir concerts, and soccer games. Of course, they go to every basketball and football game to cheer for the varsity teams, and pump up the crowd. At home games they always have a routine to perform during halftime. The cheerleaders also have competitions throughout the season, which they win trophies for in different categories.

Freshman cheerleader, Paige Unruh, said “The competitions are a really great event for our squad to bond over.”

If you’re thinking of becoming a cheerleader next year, you’ll have to face tryouts. To prepare for tryouts you have one day to learn a dance, a cheer, and chant. The next day, at tryouts, you will perform for the coach, Megan Nieman. The cheerleaders this year have done a great job so far in spreading spirit around the school, and encouraging fellow athletes.
