Serving Up a Season

Savannah Thode, Journalism 1 Student

This week McPherson High School varsity girls have made quite an effort. They worked very hard and finished second place in runner up in the KSHSAA State Tournament.   The team came home with as much pride as with all of their supporters. They definitely made it a great team effort to make their coaches very proud of them.

The girls started and ended this season very strong. They fought for it. The girls practiced everyday for 3 hours. Practicing on their serves, and spikes, and even bumps back and forth to each other. They warm up and stretch. Like every other sport they need to get prepared, and they need to stretch their muscles. It takes more than just hitting the ball back and forth.

These girls never put the “I” in team. They have always done it together with or without a win. As for the freshman girls, first time playing at the high school and they finished the year on a good note.

The freshman girls got first in League and it was a moment to remember. Knowing these girls could have gave up and stopped trying but they didn’t. They gave it their all  and it got them the win.
