On Thursday, April 20th at 9 a.m. at the Park School Gym, the McPherson County Art Exhibition opened to the public. The show featured pieces from all mediums that were submitted by students and schools in McPherson County.

“I always love putting my work into the art show,” said MHS senior Christal Regehr, “I’m pretty sure I’ve submitted something every year since I was a freshman.”

Art pieces were displayed in the gym on tables, stands, and hung on the walls.

“I was really happy when I saw I got a ribbon,” said Regehr, “We were only allowed to submit three pieces, so since I submitted three different medias I was worried I might not have as good of a chance of placing that way.”

The show also offers a unique opportunity for seniors. If seniors fill out a sheet and contact the show’s staff, they can come in and set up a booth that showcases all of their favorite artwork. The booths lined the sides of the show, and each one featured the senior’s name and a little written excerpt explaining the seniors plans and ideas.

“I like seeing all the artwork that’s submitted, especially when you find pieces that were made by middle schoolers,” said MHS senior Brittanee White. “But I also like seeing the senior tables because it’s cool to see all the different styles someone can do so well.”

There was also a reception held on Friday night, the 21st, for the parents and artists so students and parents could mingle and socialize with student artists from the other participating towns.

“I just love the art show,” said Regehr, “It’s always something I look forward to when I make school projects!”
