As the end of school year comes closer, it’s almost time to say goodbye to this year’s graduates. The class of 2017’s high school careers are quickly coming to a close. For some seniors like Mensi Patel, that means feelings of excitement.

“I think that I am caught between being happy and sad about leaving,” Patel said, “I am looking forward to no longer being told what is right and wrong in regards to how I pursue my career.”

For other students however, the thought of the near future has left them overwhelmed and even a little regret full.

“I have really enjoyed my time at the high school, however, I wish I had played more sports and joined more clubs,” Chintan Patel said.

Going off into the “real world” is scary, but most seniors are ready for the future.

“As graduation draws near, I am looking forward to new experiences coming my way,” Emma Ellett said. “I am ready to be adventurous and get out of the only town I’ve ever lived in. While I am extremely excited, I am also very sentimental and wary to leave.”

The same readiness was expressed by other seniors like Tyler Gifford too.

“I’ve built character here, and that character is what I’ll use for my future calling,” Gifford said. “There is no emotion, more of a feeling of satisfaction that goes beyond any emotion- I’m looking forward to the life ahead that God has planned for me.”

Seniors last day of high school is May 11 2017. The class of 2017 will graduate on May 20th in the roundhouse at MHS.

“It’s been tough, there’s been a lot of trials,” Gifford said, “In the end though, it was worth it,”
