The Winter Formal is on Saturday, February 18th.

MHS will be hosting a homecoming dance on Saturday, February 18th, at 8:00 p.m. The dance will go on until 10:30 p.m. It’s winter-themed and formal dress. Tickets are $5 if they’re bought beforehand, and will be $7 if they’re purchased at the door.

“I feel that the this winter homecoming dance is an intriguing idea,” said senior, Christopher Huff, “I also feel that if there is going to be a winter dance there should be an awesome theme alongside it,” he continued.

The Homecoming game will be on the Friday before, where the King and Queen will be announced. Students were able to vote online between five girls and five boys.

“The dance will be like dopamine,” said freshman Quoc Ta, “I think I would be looking forward to playing Super Smash Bros., but dancing could be pretty dank to as long as I got some friends doing it with me,” he finished.

This will be the first Homecoming dance since 2015, since attendance was dipping in previous years.

I’m actually really glad they brought it back,” said Huff, “It was weird not even having the option before- it’s just a high school tradition.”

This year’s dance will have a few new additions. There will be a photo booth, a fondue fountain, and a Mario Kart tournament. Snow cones will also be provided by Hopp’s Sno Cone Shack.

“It will be a blast,” said Thomas Smith, a senior member on STUCO,  “And I would highly encourage everyone to come!”

The Spirit Week days were coordinated with the winter theme to help lead up to the game and the dance.

“I only participated in pajama day this time, but I like seeing all the cool costumes everyone puts together,” said Huff, “Some people really go all out.”

The Homecoming dance is hopefully a ritual that is here to stay.

“I hope it goes well,” said Huff, “And I really hope it doesn’t go away again. It would be a bummer for the underclassmen- it’s worth going to.”
