Regional Track and Field Preview

McPherson High’s track and field team will be traveling to their Class 4A regional meet in Holcomb, Kansas on May 20.

The previous strongholds for the track and field team have came from the girls’ side in long jump and triple jump. Senior Amy Suenram, sophomores Elle Barrett and Kenzie Goering are hoping to qualify along with senior Megan Pederson and Mandi Cooks in the high jump event. Other than those events, the running events are known to be to be the the toughest in regional meet for 4A.

Other girls such as juniors Morgan Howard and Kamryn Collins and Goering are looking good in their events the 100 hurdles for Howard and the 200 for Collins and Goering.

On the boys side of the team, it will be quite a different story. It will be more of challenge to get qualifiers. Andale, a regional competitor, is the defending state champion and are looking again to win the trophy, along with Buhler, Hays, Pratt, and Smoky Valley who will also show good competition.
Seniors Spenser Wine and Klayton Goering, both hurdlers, will be seeded fourth and fifth going into the meet.
