Supporting Seniors With Parking!

This year, McPherson High School seniors will once again have the chance to pay for reserved parking for the entirety of their senior year. The money raised through these parking spaces will go towards the senior class itself and activities they will participate in. The fundraiser, dubbed “Paint Your Space,” allows seniors to purchase a parking space for 50 dollars. Similar to teachers’ reserved parking, they are held only from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on scheduled school days.

“I think it’s a great idea,” said junior, Christal Regher, “the designs last year were all so creative too!”

Juniors that are interested in parking next year must meet in Mrs. Shook’s room on May 10th at 7:45 a.m. with the payment ready to reserve a spot. There are only 50 available parking spots for sale, so once those are taken, that’s it.

Students’ designs must be approved before they’re allowed to paint. A 4 by 8- foot rectangle will be mapped out in which students can paint designs that have either their first or last name somewhere within the spot.

“Even though I didn’t buy a spot last year, I loved seeing all the paintings other kids did,” said Hannah Peak, a senior. “It’s a great fundraiser idea.”

August 13th is the designated time for seniors to paint their spot at school. Latex paint and other supplies will be provided by the students themselves.

“I’m excited to see the new paintings this year,” said Regher.
