Recently, the MHS High Life started an investigation on the health of our public establishments. Health inspections are important to make sure the food we get from public facilities is safe. Overall, health inspectors check that food is protected from contamination by the people who handle the food. Health inspectors also look for cross-contamination and problems such as the temperature of the food. Restaurants and school cafeterias are among the facilities that get regular health inspections.
During past inspections of McPherson schools in USD 418, it has been proven that McPherson has kept up to date with all of the Kansas Health Department requirements. Within the past couple of months, each elementary school, along with the middle school and high school, was inspected and had few minor violations according to the Kansas Health Department.

While each school had few violations, they were still noticed by the inspector. The violations ranged from having the meat being over the lettuce and other misplaced items, to not having the date marked on the sausage that had been cooked. All of the violations were fixed on site. The average amount of violations for McPherson restaurant is 5. McPherson USD 418 has a smaller average amount of violations, showing that we have kept our schools up to date and clean.
