REI Opts Out Of Black Friday

Kallie Jost

The day after Thanksgiving is always the craziest of them all. It’s the day you can get great things with a massive sale. Whether it’s in store or online, there are some great buys out there. This day is Black Friday. However, some stores are starting to opt out of this tradition.

Everyone knows of  famous holiday, and everyone also knows how hectic it can be. Waiting outside the store for hours just to get a few things on sale. People running in the doors like a herd of animals, determined to get what they’re after. Spending the night in a tent on the store’s sidewalk to get up early and to get in line by the doors before everyone else.

One of the stores most shoppers have being talking about REI. This company sells outdoor gear(coats, hats, boots, etc.). They have most everything for your outdoor needs.

“For 76 years, our co-op has been dedicated to one thing and one thing only: a life outdoors. We believe that being outside makes our lives better. And Black Friday is the perfect time to remind ourselves of this essential truth. We’re a different kind of company—and while the rest of the world is fighting it out in the aisles, we’ll be spending our day a little differently. We’re choosing to opt outside, and want you to come with us” CEO, Stritzke tells Forbes.

Many customers are disappointed about their decision, but REI thinks it is best for the company.
