On October 23rd, 2015, Australian band, 5 Seconds of Summer, released their second album, Sounds Good Feels Good. Their first self-titled album sold 259,000 copies within the first week of being released. The new album includes the single, “She’s Kinda Hot,” which was Number 1 on iTunes in more than 40 countries and earned a spot in the Top 20. Sounds Good Feels Good as a whole was No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and the album definitely deserved it. Fans anxiously awaited the release of the album and were not disappointed.

Compared to the first album, Sounds Good Feels Good is overall a more mature sound for the band. It touches on topics like mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety, as well as divorce. These are thing teenagers go through, so the album is more personal. The producer, John Feldman, said “These guys wanted to make a statement with this record. It’s a rock record with guitars and drums and an actual orchestra. We kept everything as real as possible – playing everything, not drawing the sounds on a screen.”

Personally, I’m a big fan of the album. “Broken Home” and “San Francisco” are more of the mellow tracks on the album. There are still plenty of upbeat songs like “Money” and “Fly Away”, as well. Sounds Good Feels Good has lived up to it’s name, and it’s only the beginning for 5 Seconds of Summer.
