CTE Classes at MHS
November 3, 2015
Each year, students at McPherson High School get the chance to pick their classes, some of them being CTE (Career Technical Education) classes that are designed to help students learn and prepare for a career that they may be interested in. To learn about different CTE classes, the feature section will be covering different classes each week.
“I’ve learned some really helpful things that I think would help me in the future to open my own business,” sophomore Alyssa Williams said. Entrepreneurship class is all about business plans, financial skills, and running and managing a business.
It is one of the many CTE classes students can choose from at MHS. The class is meant for students who want to learn how to own and operate their own business.
In entrepreneurship class, students will also learn about economics, marketing principles, human relations and psychology, business and labor law, legal rights and responsibilities of ownership, business and financial planning, finance and accounting and communication.
In this class students are currently learning about business plans. “We are working with partners to create our own business to see what it would really be like to have your own business,” sophomore Taylor Johnson is quoted.
“I’ve learned that starting a business is a lot more than buying a building and selling things; you really need to have it all planned out and you even need to know what might happen in the future within your business. You also have to have enough money to support you in the present as well as the future,” Johnson said“I would recommend this class to anyone who plans on opening up their own business or wants to learn more about what it takes to run a business.”
