On October 9th and 10th, the MHS Theater put on a play at 7:30 PM here at the high school. The play was called Almost Maine. It took place in a small town called Almost, Maine where everybody knows everybody. The actors and actresses in this play were outstanding, and the dedication that they put into this performance showed when they were on stage. The play was a succession of duet romantic comedies, each one of them different than the next. Some made you laugh, some made you cry, but all of the  made you believe in the possibility of love.

When asked about why he auditioned, freshman student, Drake Langshaw said “The reason I auditioned is because I genuinely love theater. I love performing and taking others through a story, and making them feel all the emotions that we make them as we guide them through. Also, I love playing a character. It’s like reading a book. You lose yourself in them, and put yourself in their shoes; it’s a great feeling.” As far as his character he said, “I am playing a character named East. He is a repairman that is living just a little outside of town. He is reserved, concerning, and caring. His world is changed forever when he is just about to hit the hay, and finds a foreign woman with a troubled past just camping out in his yard.”

Another cast member, a junior Kiley Delaney, is playing Glory. According to Kiley “Glory is a melodramatic character who has had a great deal of stress in her life, but is still pretty bubbly.” Kiley is an active member of theater, and she’s been in numerous plays, including last year’s production of Beauty and the Beast, where she played Mrs. Potts. “The reason I decided to audition was, because I love everything about theater. I love the acting, and the working backstage, and the bond you build with your fellow cast members are the best. Some of the people in the cast are some of my closest friends. We are like one big family.” When it comes to her favorite scene in the play she said “My favorite part of the play is Olivia Rettig and Dylan Kramer’s scene. It is the funniest scene, and I can’t wait for people to see it.”
