This week McPherson High School volleyball girls dressed to impress for this first home game. With the girls starting their day out with dresses during school, the confidence proved to be used later in the evening. Moving two spots up in the Kansas Volleyball Association’s Class 4A Division 1 poll. The girl’s trailing behind Topeka Hayden and Bishop Miege, the girl’s went from No. 5 to No. 3.

The varsity team won their first match 25-22, 25-19 against Rose Hill. The girls also won their second against Andale with scores of 25-21, 25-13.

“As a senior this year has been everything I hoped and It is because of all the good work we have been putting in as a team throughout the summer and in practice,” said  Ashtyn Schieferecke. “The mind set we had during these matches were to finish. In practice we simulate close games so we stay calm in situations like those. I feel like Tuesday’s game went great and everyone on the team played with amazing effort. I was great to see as a senior.”

Junior varsity also beat Rose Hill, 25-15, 25-14. Unfortunately, the team lost their second to Andale just a few points behind, 25-23, 25-17.

“As a team I feel like we have a great chemistry and play really well together. The season is going great and we put in a lot of hard work. I feel like we are prepared for our next games and we prepare mentally with the help of our coach and teammates,” said Elisabeth Evans.

The junior varsity team rested for the last couple days of the week due to the fact that they traveled to Eisenhower High School to compete in the eight team Invitational.
