Many schools across America have been cutting fine art classes from their program due to budget cuts and other financial issues. It’s not fair to students that these schools fail to see the many benefits of these classes. In fine art classes students can allow themselves to think creatively and make the class their own. Taking a fine art class is also a great way for students to meet friends who share similar hobbies and interests. Classes such as, music, theater, art and photography are great classes with many advantages.

Think of typical classes like math, history, or science. They all follow certain set guidelines that you have to follow and think logically on. In fine art classes, there is no set way of doing things. Fine art classes allow students to use their creativity to any extent, and express  themselves in any way they want.  For some students it can even be seen as an escape from regular classes that they can’t usually express themselves in.

Art teacher Bethany Schoenwetter even says, “A lot of people who have taken art courses are able to think ‘outside the box’ and these people are often sought after by companies for their knowledge and for their ability to think more creatively.” So, the fact that students are able to think creatively from taking these classes can help them in the future, too.

If students are looking to make new friends, a great way to do that is by taking a fine art class they’re interested in. Students take these classes because they have to do with things they enjoy or are passionate about. So, it’s a great way to make friends who share the same passion
and interests. Fine arts have a way of bringing different people together, because they make people feel something. Acting, dancing, singing and painting are just a few examples that all cause people to feel something. Sharing those feelings and interests with someone is a great way to connect with them, and maybe even make a new friend.

Fine art classes have endless benefits to students. These classes encourage creative thinking from students, which they can use their entire lives. Students also express themselves in fine art classes, which can be difficult to do in other classes. They can also be a great way for students to make new friends based on similar interests. Fine art classes should never even be considered for elimination, because they create better students, expressive ideas and endless friendships.
